ABOUT BEANSTALK

SHARING THE MAGIC OF THEATRE SINCE 2023

Beanstalk Theatre Company is a local theatre company and performing arts training organization based in the qathet Regional District (qRD).

As a theatre company we have been producing wildly popular live musicals and showcases since 2023. Notable past productions include Mary Poppins (2023), Beauty and the Beast (2024), The Wizard of Oz (2025). Voted Best Live Theatre in qathet Living magazine in 2024 and 2025, Beanstalk Theatre Company is dedicated to providing exceptional and entertaining live theatre experiences for the qRD community.

In addition to being a full-fledged theatre company, we are proud to be the qRD’s premiere theatre training program for young people. We offer a variety of weekly classes for students ages 4-18 taught by professional and experienced instructors. Creativity, Respect, Empathy, Artistry, Teamwork, and Enjoying oneself, are the cornerstones of our teaching method, and we strive to impart these values to all our students in a safe, challenging, and fun environment.

We can’t wait to see you in class or at the theatre!

MEET OUR TEAM

  • Artistic Director / Instructor

Sydney has been working as a Musical Theatre instructor and choreographer for eight years. She designed and created a Musical Theatre program from the ground up through Laszlo Tamasik Dance Academy, with 20 students in her first year. By the program’s fifth year it had grown to 160 students. Sydney also worked at Brooks Secondary School as their theatre program’s choreographer from 2018-2022.

Sydney is IDTS certified and has trained with NYFA’s Conservatory of Musical Theatre. NYFA’s program gave her the opportunity to further her training by learning from and working with Broadway professionals.

Sydney loves her job. Being in Musical Theatre as a child are some of Sydney’s fondest memories from growing up. She is so excited to give the youth of our community the amazing experiences she had at their age.

  • Instructor

Anna Carlson officially started taking classes when she was eight years old, but was dancing for fun long before that. Anna gravitated toward the genres of contemporary and musical theatre, which continued her growth as a dancer and propelled her love of the art. In 2019 she began to assistant-teach musical theatre classes at Laszlo Tamasik Dance Academy (LTDA) and quickly developed a passion for sharing her love of dance and theatre with aspiring younger dancers. After three years of assisting, Anna furthered her journey as a dance instructor by co-teaching with Indy Morwood through the 2022-2023 LTDA season, and the 2023-2024 Beanstalk Theatre Company Performance Skills program. She is so excited to inspire others as much as her previous teachers have inspired her, and share with her students the incredible feeling performance provides. Anna is honoured to have the opportunity to continue teaching what she loves, and create lovely memories with kids!

  • Administrator

Delaney has been a member of Beanstalk’s crew and creative team since it was founded in 2022. She helps to develop and build props, sets and costumes for both the musical theatre and performance skills programs. While still enjoying her work backstage, she is excited to be stepping into her new role as Beanstalk’s administrator this season.

Delaney received an Office Assistant Certification through Okanagan College. The program focused on essential business skills such as records management, office procedures and communications. Delaney has always enjoyed organization, as well as helping others, which are things she puts to good use for Beanstalk and its company members.

Delaney loves Beanstalk Theatre Company. She is yet to find another environment like the one created at Beanstalk by its team and company members. The students are kind, respectful and passionate about the work they are doing which makes her job so rewarding. Delaney is excited to be a part of bringing Beanstalk’s productions to life this season and for many seasons to come.
